Free Webmaster Tools You Should Know About

Creating and taking care of your website or for that matter any collection of online content can be a daunting task, especially without the right tools. Herein three vital free webmasters tools and how to use them will be discussed, with appropriate links to the tools included. The free webmaster tools are listed in order of use, from Google AdWords to Textalyser and then Iwebtool. This listing order is meant as a chronological order of use whilst developing your website or article for associated content.

Free Webmaster Tools: Google AdWords Keyword

The title of this Google tool can be quite misleading, as the name seems to suggest it would only be of use to those who wish to advertise using Google. Basically it was meant to be a tool to show people intending to advertise what key words are looked up and in what volume, however it is also useful in deciding what words to include in an article or website as it shows the volume of people that search for certain sets of keywords. It also gives recommendations for other keywords to include in an article or website, thus boosting potential views. As such, the AdWords keywords tool is one of the best webmaster tools available.

Free Webmaster Tools: Textalyser

Textalayser is a great free webmaster tool which analyses a given set of text and gives details regarding it. Namely details such as what words appear and how many times they appear, how many keywords it has and how readable the text is. Where it is useful is that it enables webmasters to see the view of a webpage that search engines do and as such it allows webmasters to check the topic they think they are writing about against the topic that search engines think the article is about. As such, Textalyser is one of the best free webmaster tools.

Free Webmaster Tools: Iwebtool

Iwebtool is not so much a single tool for webmasters as it is a collection of webmaster resources. It has a collection of programs that can achieve many things useful to webmasters, from checking how many links are on the web to a specific site to checking page rank and search engine position. What really makes iwebtool one of the best webmaster tools is its professional and easy to use design, with as little clutter possible. As such, iwebtool is an indispensable collection of tools for webmasters.

8 Simple SEO Techniques Every Webmaster Should Know

Every webmaster should have some basic understanding of
these simple SEO techniques if they want to achieve
Top Rankings for their site. The more you know about these
Search Engine Optimization techniques; the better your
web pages will fare in the different search engines,
especially Google.

Optimizing your pages for the search engines should be
your main priority because conquering and dominating your
chosen keywords is often cited as one of the major
determining factors in the success of your online site
or business. You must have a rudimentary grasp of how
SEO can work for you and your site.

These simple SEO Tips will help you understand
the basics and help you reach your online goals.

1. Title Tag

The Title Tag is located at the top of your html page
and it tells the search engines what your page is about.
When you open your page in a browser these are the
words at the very top of the screen. Despite its simplicity,
the title tag is crucial to 'on-page optimization'; it should
include your main keywords and it should be 63 characters
or less if you want your title to appear in full on Google.

Many SEO experts create web pages in a three-prong
approach. They place the title in:

- the title tag

- on the webpage itself

- and in the URL for that page.

Sometimes they will just pick the main keywords from
the title and place them in the anchor url instead.
For example: [http://www.yourwebsite.com/keywords.html]

3. Meta Description Tag

The Meta Tag contains the description for your web page.
Your description will show up in all the search engines
so you have to be careful to write precisely and objectively.
It should be about 140 characters or around 20 words.
Make sure to include your keywords but don't spam; don't
repeat your keywords more than twice, using variations is
helpful.

Keep in mind, successful webmasters make their descriptions
stand out from the crowd and entice the surfer to click
their link. It is also the first contact with your potential
visitor or prospect so make a good first impression.

3. Anchor Tag or URL

The anchor tag is used to form links within websites
or from site to site. This tag should have your title
or the main keywords from your page title to be the most
effective.

Anchor text is also important to know, these are the
underlined, clickable text or words in a link.

anchor text

If you want to check Google for all web pages
containing your keywords in the anchor tags.

Just type into Google Search:
allinanchor:yourkeywords

4. Finding Backlinks

One of the keys to higher rankings is building quality
links from relevant related quality sites. The search
engines, especially Google, counts each link as a "vote"
for your site or content. Many experts suggest you include
your main keywords in the anchor text of these inbound
links in order to rank high.

If you want to find the number of backlinks your site
has.

Just type into Google Search:
link:yourURL

and it will give you the number of backlinks you have.

Google doesn't give you all your existing backlinks,
so you can try Yahoo! to find a more exact number.

Just open Yahoo! and type in:
linkdomain:yourURL

5. Checking Indexed Pages

If is very important for you to know what content
the search engines have indexed from your site.
You can also check to see how your links are
displayed and to see if any titles or descriptions
are missing from your pages.

You can see how many of your pages are indexed
in Google by using the site command.

Just type into Google Search:
site:yourURL

Another way to look at your pages in Google
is to type in "http://yoursite" and "http://www.yoursite"
with the quotation marks to see the exact number
of listings for each.

6. Checking Google Cache

You can also check to see the Google Cache
of your site by using the cache command.
You will also discover when it was last
retrieved.

Just type into Google Search:
cache:yourURL

7. Finding Associated Keywords

Keywords are the heart of the Internet, you
must dominate the search engines for your
chosen keywords if you are to succeed online.
You must be able to find variations of your
keywords to completely conquer your targeted
niche. To find what other keywords Google has
associated with your main keywords, just use
the tilde ~ command to find associated phrases
in Google.

Just type into Google search:
~keywords

Variations will be highlighted in bold print.

8. Finding Titled Keywords

If you want to find competing sites that have
your keywords in the title just use the allintitle
command.

Just type into Google search:
allintitle:yourkeywords

In summary, if used consistently, these basic SEO
techniques should help improve your rankings and keep you
in the picture with regards to your standings in the search
engines. Your site's stats or raw traffic logs will also confirm
the rise or fall of your keyword rankings. You must have
complete knowledge of both your site and your keywords
in the search engines, especially Google. Since Google will
deliver most of your quality traffic, you must optimize for
it and be aware of what is happening to your site and keywords
within Google. This is yet another example where knowledge
equals success.

Basic SEO Optimization Techniques - Google Webmaster Tools

his article has been written to help people who may be new to internet marketing get their website noticed by the search engines. There is much more that can be done, but for the sake of simplicity, I have chosen to deal with only one topic in this article - the use of Google Webmaster Tools.

Note: Google Webmaster Tools is able to be utilized on many of the website building sites, so although these notes are particularly aimed at WordPress, you can still use them to help get the SEO going on your other sites. You will generally be able to find all this sort of information under a 'Settings' tab when you are in edit mode on your website.

You can get your sites verified by pasting the meta tag code from the Google Webmasters Tools site into the appropriate box when you are in edit mode for your site on the website building site.

Back on the Google Webmasters Tools site, you can also often get your site sitemapped by typing in 'sitemap.xml' in the box next to your site's address, after you have clicked on the 'Add Sitemap' button.

Go to the website at Google.com/webmasters/tools/

If you have a little look around here, you will see how Google views your website. This site can give you valuable information about the traffic coming to your site and how you can increase it by analyzing your View Links Data, Top Queries and Page Analysis.

The important thing about this site is that by submitting your sitemap directly to them, they will be sure not to miss any of your posts or pages.

So, sign up for your account (a good idea is to use the same log-in information for this account and your AdSense account [if you don't have an AdSense account yet, just keep it in mind, because you probably will open one at some later stage and you can use the same account details for it]. Ditto for AdWords.

When you log in you will see your Dashboard. Add your site address with the www. but not the http.

Click 'Add Site'

You will then need to verify your site, so choose the 'Add a Meta Tag' option. Below you will see a code, which you need to copy and paste into your site's header. Open a new window and go into your WordPress Admin area. Go to 'Appearance' then 'Theme Editor' then select the Header from the list on the right-hand side. When it comes up, scroll down to where you see the script and paste your meta tag code in just ABOVE this script and BEFORE the script.

Click 'Update File'

Go back to your Webmaster Tools window and click on the 'Verify' button. If you have done everything correctly, you should get a message confirming verification.

Now, go back to your Webmaster Tools Dashboard and next to your site URL there will be a column titled 'Sitemap' - click on the link that says 'Add'. Choose 'Add General Web Sitemap' and put in sitemap.xml where required. Click on 'Add General Web Sitemap'

You need to get some good content onto your site, if you haven't already done so, before you move on to more SEO strategies. If you created your site on one of the website building sites, once you have put some content on your site and you have published it, you can use other search engine optimization strategies, also.

Guide to Using Google's Webmaster Tools

With Google Webmaster Tools, you will be able to track various things, like the number of people who have visited your blog, the keywords that have led to your blog, who has back-linked you and the traffic you receive from them, as well as indicate if your blog has been hijacked. With such features, organizing your blog will be easier. Here is how you can use the tool for your blog.

First of all, go to Google Webmaster Tools. You can enter a search query to get to the page. Then, you will need to sign into your Google account. If you do not have a Google account, you will need to register for one. All you will need to do is to create an e-mail address and its password. Once you have entered the account, the page you will see is your dashboard. In the middle of the page towards the bottom, you will see a button that says 'Add a site'. Clicking it will open up a small field for you to enter your site's URL. Make sure the blog that you enter is yours because only the owner can complete the verification section, which you will be led to after clicking 'Continue'; the page would be called 'Verify ownership'. Your verification status should be 'Not Verified', so you will need to get it verified to enjoy the Webmaster Tools' features.

There will be several options available: 'add a DNS to your domain's configuration'; 'add a meta tag to your site's home page'; 'upload an HTML file to your server'; or 'link to your Google Analytics account'. Choose the option according to your blog's abilities, and there will be instructions that will guide you to what you will need to do to complete the verification process. The simplest thing you can do is to 'add a meta tag to your site's home page', which will require you to add the HTML codes given into your blog's template. Once you have saved the settings in your blog's template, you can come back to the verification page. Then, click 'Verify', and you are done.

Where to Find a Webmaster

If you don't yet have a webmaster, there are several approaches you can take. While the details of these steps are beyond the scope of this article, you should be able to find resources online to walk you through these steps.

- Ask friends and colleagues. If they are using a webmaster, they may be willing to refer you to theirs. This is your safest approach.

- Look for links to web designers at the bottom of sites you admire. If you don't see a link, contact the site owner and ask for a referral. Keep in mind that many people don't like to share the name of their web designer for fear the designer will become too busy to continue to provide the quality service they now enjoy.

- Lance sites. There are a growing number of sites online that feature free-lancers who are willing to bid on your job. Most of these work as reverse bids, where you post your request, then the professionals bid on the job, with the hope that they'll get your attention with the "low bid." There are insiders' secrets to using these sites, so look for resources both on the sites and in products available online.

Sites that fall into this category include elance.com, rent-a-coder.com, scriptlance.com, and guru.com

- Craigs List.  This is a free resource for advertising your needs. Post an ad on either your city's craigslist or on one of the larger, more tech-savvy cities. Austin and San Francisco would be good bets.

When posting your request, specify that you want your sites created in HTML. This will provide sites that someone else can edit easily. Plus the search engines find HTML pages easy to read and index. The only exception to this would be a blog site, which should use WordPress.

It won't take long before you have several webmasters knocking at your door, looking to do your bidding!

What Does a Webmaster Do?

Do you need a Webmaster for your company's website? If you find value in having a go-to guy for all you'll ever need with your site, then the answer is yes. A Webmaster's main tasks are to help develop and promote your site, which includes services like adding new pictures, new content, product updates, new events, event registration, and page animations. If your services expand and you find yourself needing additional sites under your company, having a Webmaster handy can prove to be extremely useful. They are also equipped to assist you with email, hosting, and a wealth of other technical services that would cost most business owners exorbitant amounts of time and money if undertaken without the expertise and site familiarity Webmasters provide.

A Webmaster can do all thing related to a site or online application, encompasses all traditional services a development firm offers, just in a long-term partnership. While the main function of a Webmaster is to provide ongoing site maintenance for your business's pictures, pricing, ecommerce offerings, and other data, they offer many other services that help boost the site's value.

Webmasters' technical knowledge generally spans many programming languages, such as PHP, ASP, and Javascript. They handle the technical aspects of overseeing website construction and maintenance, but also oversee management of content, marketing, advertising, and fulfillment of orders for ecommerce sites. Other responsibilities include the coordination of different users of a website in terms of access rights, and setting up a site's navigation.

When the times comes to expand your site's offerings or move up the search-engine page rank ladder, your Webmaster will be an integral part of your advancement. A good Webmaster will continually work to expand your site and offer services that add value and efficiency to the way your website runs.

A website doesn't fulfill its mission if it's not directing people to visit it, and another function a Webmaster serves is to increase traffic to your site. They do this in several ways, the most common being SEO (Search Engine Optimization). SEO involves the integration of key internet marketing strategies to help increase traffic to, and awareness of, your company's site. This translates directly into money flowing into your company, making a Webmaster's services all the more invaluable for the long-term viability of your site.

For many reasons, Webmasters are worth the investment. They partner with your company to help achieve your goals in a way that's becoming more and more vital to staying competitive.

Make Your Own Website for Free and Earn Easy Money

Make Your Own Website for Free and Earn Easy Money

The easiest way to make your own website for free is to start your very own web-log, usually referred to as a blog. Blog websites typically consist of journal-style entries, thoughts, ideas, personal commentary, reviews, or any topic the author chooses to write about. Several blogging services are available to anyone who would like to begin blogging, but I suggest the one service where you can submit all of your entries, post images, and make a few bucks too. As if that's not enough, it's completely free: http://www.Blogger.com

Why Use Blogger.com?

Blogger.com is extremely easy to use. You don't need to know anything about building a website, programming, or coding. The Blogger website is very easy to navigate and will walk you through the entire process--even a child can do it.

When you sign up for your own free blog website with Blogger.com, you have the option to include Google Ads on your website, a program called AdSense. Then, when readers visit your site, some may click on the AdSense ads, and you'll get paid for every click. It's free to set up, and you can start making money online today. Keep in mind, though, that there are rules you need to follow when using AdSense Ads on your blog. I suggest you read the following help document: http://help.blogger.com/bin/answer.py?answer=42281.

To recap: The fastest way to make your own website for free is to create a blog at http://www.Blogger.com. In addition to being the fastest, it is also the easiest because you don't need to know any HTML code or programming, you just need to know how to type and be able to follow simple instructions.

Content for Your Own Blog Website

The only drawback to using a blog is adding content. Many beginners struggle with writing simple blog entries and end up spending too much time writing, editing, and rewriting content. Some Internet marketers copy articles from other websites, but that technique isn't great either because finding the perfect articles related to your website may take hours or even days.

For more information, I recommend Building a Blog Empire for Profit to learn proven tips to make money with your free blog. This ebook contains advanced tips on selecting the best type of blog based on your interests and tells you how to build traffic. It also offers effective money-making strategies.

Make More Money with Affiliate Marketing

So, blogs are a great way to make your own website for free, and Google Ads are a good way to make money with your blog. But there is an even better way to get started that is also free. It's called affiliate marketing.

Affiliate marketing essentially pays you a finder's-fee to bring new clients to a business. So you might get paid a certain amount for each visit ("pay per click"), for each person who registers ("pay per lead"), or for each customer or sale ("pay per sale").

Amazon.com is a good example. Anyone with a website can join Amazon.com's affiliate program. When you join, Amazon will provide you with links, containing your unique affiliate ID, to products on the Amazon.com website. You can then use these links on your blog. When the readers of your blog click the link and make a purchase at Amazon.com, you get paid a commission on the sale. It's that simple.

There are thousands of merchants like Amazon.com that want you to help them make sales and they will pay you to do so. Gigantic companies like eBay, Apple iTunes, and Walmart all offer affiliate programs that you can join for free.

To get the most bang for your buck, ClickBank is one affiliate network you should partner with. ClickBank manages affiliate programs for more than 10,000 products, and you can earn between 1% and 75% on each sale. Even if you promote 50 products from ClickBank, you only need to visit one website to track all of your sales and profits. Also, you will only receive one check from ClickBank, versus 50 individual checks from multiple affiliate programs, which makes for easier bookkeeping.

Make Your Own Website for Free: Software

Another way to make a free website is to use software that will do the work for you. These programs create everything you need with just a few clicks--the content, the pages, the code, and programming to make your own website for free.

There are a few software packages that will build an entire website based on a topic you choose. Some are much more expensive than others. I decided to try HyperVRE because it's free. Other software packages I reviewed, such as Adsense-Realestate.com, cost as much as $397 and charge an additional monthly membership fee.

How Does HyperVRE Work?

First, you select a topic you would like to use for your website. We'll use "burn fat." The software will then search several article databases and build each page of your website based on the titles of each article. For example, one page of our "burn fat" website will be an article called "Best Exercise to Burn Fat."

The most powerful feature of HyperVRE is the ability to automatically include AdSense ads in every page as well as inserting your affiliate links to related Amazon.com and ClickBank products. All you have to do is enter your Amazon.com and ClickBank affiliate IDs into HyperVRE, and the software generates your affiliate links on the fly.

HyperVRE is very powerful in terms of time-saving features and ease of use, but it's weak in many areas--most notably, website design. The software includes several different layouts for potential websites. None of them are visually appealing. And unless you know HTML, you'll be stuck with a below-average, unprofessional-looking website.

Hosting is another issue. Yes, the HyperVRE software is free and you can create 100 different websites--all free. But your free websites will be stuck on your computer's hard drive until you actually pay for hosting. This is where the cost can get you.

I recommend using HyperVRE only if you are willing to pay for website hosting. If you decide to use HyperVRE, I recommend 1and1.com for website hosting. 1and1.com allows you to host 20 different domain names for only $2.24/month.

Most people don't realize how easy it is to make your own website for free--and even make money at it. I recommend Blogger.com first and foremost, and then you can build from there. It just isn't that hard to make your own website--for free--and start earning easy money.

How to Generate Free Site Traffic Using Yahoo Answers

How to Generate Free Site Traffic Using Yahoo Answers

If you were aware that Yahoo Answers has a user base of more than 21 million unique users in the US alone and over 90 million worldwide, would you not be intrigued to find out what it is all about? If you also knew that it is one of the most effective and simplest methods of increasing your website traffic for free, would you not want to be a part of it?

One of the easiest ways to drive free traffic to your site is through Yahoo Answers and for some reason; it is one of the most overlooked methods in the strategies of many Internet Marketers.

Step 1

You will need to sign up at Yahoo Answers although if you already have a current Yahoo messenger account, you will be able to create an account using that ID.

Step 2

Complete your Profile. Once logged in you can create or edit your profile and take the time to fill out as much information as you would like others to see then save this information. Yahoo Answer members can contact you via messenger if you have this option enabled or through email. You have the choice however, of not allowing any private contact other than your responses to the questions you answer.

You will want to brand yourself so it is suggested that you upload a photograph and it's an effective way to make your profile more memorable as this picture will appear alongside your answers.

Step 3

Take time to look over the site, looking at the types of questions asked. On the left hand side of the main page you will see a list of categories and it is within these that questions are posted according to their subject matter. To help increase the free traffic to your site, you will only choose those categories that relate to your niche industry. Some of the categories listed (in alphabetical order) are:

Arts & Humanities, Beauty & Style, Business & Finance, Cars & Transportation, Computers & Internet, Consumer Electronics, Dining Out, Education & Reference

How to Promote Your Product

Before you start answering questions you should have a good idea as to what you plan on promoting. You should never go into Yahoo Answers with the sole aim of promoting your product. Instead focus on adding value, people have posted questions on there because they are looking for solutions. If your product happens to be a possible solution for them, that is when you post your link. Your link goes in the Source box at the end of your answer and not within the main body of your response.

This is how you get free traffic to your site; it is a simple but effective way to promote your websites and direct people to find out more about the topic of their question.

Step 4

It is important that you answer questions as thoroughly as you can and at all costs avoid spamming your websites within answers when there is no relevance for this. If you need to do some research to help someone out, then this is what you should do. It is all about adding value, building a credible presence and aiming for your answer to be voted a 'Top Answer'. This is how Yahoo Answers works; the person who posted the question will choose what they consider to be the Top Answer and the responder then earns a further 10 points. It is worthwhile spending some time in the early stages to look over some resolved questions (those that have top answers voted) and see the different ways that people answer the questions to earn this prestigious position.

Step 5

No Spamming. If you do this, you run the chance of not receiving any votes and your answer may be removed completely. You want to build up a credible presence by giving lots of content in your answers and whilst aiming to promote your site, focus first and foremost on giving good content.
